Why do fish need a Spring and Fall Food?

In the spring and fall, when pond temperatures are between 47ºF and 50ºF the nutritional requirements of pond fish are different from during the main season. In the spring, when pond fish are coming out of their winter slumber, they cannot metabolize all of the ingredients of many all season formulas.  In the fall, fish will need to “bulk” up prior to wintering over.

Cold Temperature Formula

The first ingredient of this food is wheat germ, which is important for the metabolism of pond fish in the cooler season. In the fall, the metabolism of pond fish begins to slow down as the temperature drops. Food with wheat germ is ideal for this season because it is easy to digest.
